What Digital Camera is best to buy?

Hello there,

I just started shooting and I had more than one comment about the quality of my photos ( using my 2MP mobile camera).

would be really appreciated if u can advice about what camera I should buy to enhance the quality of my photos.

something good, reliable, some sort of prof, great quality, macro options, zoom, night shoots and yet not too expensive, any ideas on that?

most appreciated.

Depends what you are going to use it for. For simple pictures, you could go with one off ebay. I picked up a dc t-50 5.2 mp for 80 bucks off eBay last year. It works great. The more pixels the better clarity the picture. Some people will tell you for a certain size photo you need # pixels. It is not entirely true. If you edit your photos like me (make them bigger, crop them, recenter the subject), you will need higher mega pixels to compensate for the ones you take out.

One of the most important and confusing is the optical versus digital zoo. You need optical zoom. Digital zoom is the camera compensating for distance and stretching the picture – create a lossy photo. Optical zoom is mechanical and not digital.

The reason you need a zoom is that digital cameras with an optical zoom often allow you to stand closer to a subject and still fit it in the shot much like a wide angle lens would. Ever have to keep walking backwards to keep people in the photo. This is why you need optical zoom.

I would also check what type of battery is used. Throways versus lithium prepackaged cells. Throways (AA) make your camera very heavy. Lithiums are light, rechargeable and often are not that expensive when bought through discounters and eBay.

The Last thing that you should think of is size. I big camera looks cool but you can’t fit in your pocket. I prefer a smaller one that I can take out at any time during a trip.
