Will my video camera be safe going through airport security?
I’m a freelance videographer but mostly I’ve been doing local jobs. Next week I’ll be flying to my first out of state job and I’m unaware of the airport procedure for cameras.
I own a Panasonic DVX-AG100a –a digital, basically. Will it be all right going through airport security? Do I need to notify them ahead of time?
The camcorder will be fine. Treat it the same way you would treat a computer. Carry on, through the x-ray machine, etc… No worries.
Yes, the AG-DVX100 is a miniDV tape based camcorder… no big deal. Your miniDV tapes and P2 cards (if you use them) will be just fine.
Security *might* make you take it out of the case (like they do with laptops), but that might vary by airport. Be sure an available battery is charged and ready – just in case they ask you to power it up.
