In QLD, by law do police have to show a sign of warning before an unmarked vehicle speed camera?
I am currently looking up legislations in relation to this issue but thought i would ask around.
I understand you are asking a question about QLD law, and although I admit I do not know the answer for there… I wanted to correct some of the answers given by other people here.
I live south (in NSW) and our traffic laws relating to speed cameras here are pretty clear. All speed cameras must be clearly signposted.
Fixed cameras requre at least 3 warning signs as you approach them saying “Speed Camera ahead” and “Heavy Fines & Loss of Licence” etc.
Moving police vehicles using radar do NOT need signs however stationary police “camera cars” must show a potable sign saying “Speed Camera in use” and have it positioned within 50m from the car, or directly opposite the speed camera car when catching drivers heading the opposite direction.
Like I said, no idea about the rules in QLD, but that’s how things are in NSW. If the sign is not clearly displayed… any fine can be sucessfully contested in court.
