The A550 supports Secure Digital, Multimedia, and the new SDHC memory card formats. Buying a high speed card is a good idea, as it does add onto the camera’s performance.
It uses two AA batteries and is pretty light on the accessories. You can buy an external slave flash, which attaches to the tripod mount. The A550 is also more energy efficient digital camera. With rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, you can take upto 1,400 shots with the LCD switched off. The 4x zoom lens with a 35-140mm 35mm equivalence is a very attractive feature. The camera’s easy-to-set scene modes can help the user shoot better.
With its high quality imaging and competent features set, the Canon Power Shot A550 can easily meet the needs of a wide audience of photographers. From amateurs to that of a professional, one can easily handle this feature-rich camera. It is basically a point-and-shoot camera with just a few manual controls. There are numerous scene modes, plus a regular automatic mode for shooting. While there’s a manual mode, all it does is unlock all the menu items. One can also access more of the flash modes in the version of Manual mode. It’s nice to have a pocket-seized alternative to a more bulky one.
