Which camera is better? Canon Rebel xti or xsi?

Ok. so this is my first photography camera. and i want a really good one. im planning on pursuing photography as a career, but honestly i don’t know which one i want. so please give me your feedback ;]

Actually, the cameras are more similar than they are different. Having said that, here are the major changes on the XSi compared to the XTi:
Larger 3.0″ LCD monitor
Live View mode than can use contrast autofocus like a point-n-shoot
Spot metering
3.5 fps continuous shooting, up from 3 fps.
Larger viewfinder
Uses SD/SDHC for storage instead of Compact Flash
The XSi also got some of the image processing and menus of the more advanced, EOS 40D.

For what’s worth, I believe the XTi has already been discontinued by Canon. A few may remain in stock but I think producition has stopped. That said, you might be able to get a deal on any remaining XTi bodies and put the savings toward an additional lens and/or external flash rather than spending the extra money on the XSi. DSLR technology is advancing too fast to justify spening a lot of money on the latest camera when it will be obsolete in 18-24 months. Your lenses however may stay with you for five or more years.
