How do you fix a digital camera? [[professionals only please]]?

I have a Canon digital camera and whenever i turn it on, it says “lens error please restart” and the lens is all the way out as if it were already on ready to take a picture, even though it is off. I called the service repair shop, and they are willing to fix it if there’s a recepit. The trouble is, we bought this camera six months ago and well, we had thrown away the receipt.

My question is, how am i able to fix this manually?

Sorry, I’m just an amateur. But am rather shocked that they said they’d fix a lens error with a receipt. Believe they forgot to tell you there would be a charge as lens errors are not normally covered. Anyways if you’re unable to resolve this directly with Canon, here’s some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, or Canon won’t help, they’re worth a try:
