The camera design puts it into the compact category, this camera fits well in the hand and is easily operated with just one hand. The camera is best operated if you use the 2.5 inch display to see what your taking a picture of, the viewfinder that is built in is quite small.
If this is your first camera the controls and menu will take you a while too get used too. The menu of thing you can do in the camera is pretty long, but everything moves really fast. The menu size can be a problem for some cameras but not this one you will be zipping through once you learn how it all works.
