Does anyone here have a Canon EOS Rebel XSi?
I’m an amateur photographer and I’m going to be buying my first dSLR. This camera got pretty good reviews on CNet.

First of all…I would NEVER buy a camera from reading the reviews on CNet. I prefer a more credible source for my reviews.
Anyway, yes, I own one and I really like it. Not only does it have excellent image quality (also dependent on which lens you are using). But, it’s light (excluding the lens of course), fast and responsive with good features…and very easy to use.
You may want to buy it with the kit lens (which now has IS). It makes a great starter kit. I didn’t buy the kit though.
And once you get the hang of it, you may want to invest in a better lens or two down the track…until you really know which focal lengths you prefer.
Just don’t skimp on the lens. A very cheap lens usually means a big compromise on build and image quality (EF 50mm f/1.8 excluded, it has very sharp image quality and costs less than $100).
