Buying your first Digital SLR Camera

If you are searching to learn more about digital photography, you’ve probably visited many photography related websites and blogs in order to find and learn more about digital photography equipment. For you photographers the first time finding information about cameras and lenses can be very frustrating. I remember searching to buy a new DSLR camera, and was reading many articles, reviews and form post in order to get an answer to the simple question “which digital SLR camera is the best for me”.

I was searching through reviews about digital cameras, especially interchangeable lenses cameras, also called SLR cameras, and I finally found lots of information in a blog called digital photography writer. I was searching to buy a new entry-level digital SLR camera for the first time. I was looking towards Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras, because I’ve heard many good reviews about those two companies, which are the leaders into DSLR field.

By comparing many entry-level digital cameras, I can to conclusion that I should invest most of my money in high optical quality interchangeable lenses, instead of a better camera body. This wasn’t so obvious to me, but after reading reviews about Nikon’s and Canon’s high optical quality interchangeable lenses, I can to conclusion that I can go wrong buying either Canon’s or Nikon cameras and lenses. Of course I have to choose between the two, and I’ve decided to buy the Nikon D40 entry-level DSLR camera to get started.

It can be very confused sometimes when you ask people to help you by your new digital SLR camera for the first time. Everyone that has a Canon camera will tell you that Canon cameras are the best, and photographers who use Nikon’s equipment will tell you that Nikon’s cameras and lenses are among the best there is. So if you ask me why I chose Nikon cameras and lenses, it just felt good in the hand. I went to photography store to hold the camera in my hand and he just felt better.

Of course you should take into consideration that you should by a camera that will fits your shooting habits. For example, if you want to shoot macro photography, you should probably buy a very good quality macro lens and a cheaper body. Both Nikon and Canon have amazing interchangeable macro lenses. But it is not all about lenses. You should consider also buying a flash for your camera in order to take better quality photos in low lighting conditions.

The most important thing is to decide on a budget and then see what photographic equipment fits into that budget. Digital DSLR cameras that costs more than your car, so you should be careful not to get too enthusiast about buying a first DSLR camera, because it can be very expensive at the end. For new photographers I recommend buying a cheap camera and invest in a good glass. Furthermore, I recommend reading reviews and articles and even form discussions in digital photography related sites. After that you will find that you have more knowledge and you can go and shop for your new and first entry level DSLR camera and other photography equipment and enjoy it for longtime.
