A good Nikon camera for a beginning photographer?
I want to start doing photography, and I’ve heard Nikon is my best bet.
I need one that I can buy and use now, but won’t disable me if I go on to a more professional level.
[I wanna take BIG photos, not the crappy little digital camera kind]
Now, if it were a film camera, would I need to keep a place where I can develop my photos?
And if digital, should I invest in Photoshop CS3?
[I have PaintShop Pro 9+10, I can get my hands on 11 as well. I also have Arcsoft Photostudio.]
I’m just 14, and dunno if they’d let me get a developing room, and the camera has to be within a reasonable price, around 700 USD at most, but cheaper if possible.
Also, it does not have to be within a kit, separate products are fine.
Yes, I agree … the D40 with AF-S 18-55 mm ED lens for under $450 on Amazon is a great way to go … with the money you have left from you budget, look at the 55-200 mm VR as your second lens.
BTW, the 6mp sensor on the D40 can produce image file quality that can be printed over 16×20 inches as long as there is no camera movement and the image is perfectly focused.
Until you learn how to use your fine camera, there is really no reason to spend $700 on Photoshop CS3 … if you want to learn how to use most of the PSCS3 tools, get the less than $100 Photoshop Elements. It has most of the features photographers need to deal with digital images.
