Does a Canonet 28 Rangefinder work without a battery? If is does, what is the shutter speed?
Just inherited a beautiful piece of camera history and was told that it might still work! Ok, yes, it isn’t a Leica M4 nor a Voigtlander R4, and it might very well be the ‘cheapo’ version of the Canon QL17 – nevertheless i am still interested in getting this camera to work.
Can someone tell me if this Camera will work without a battery? And if it does at what shutter speed?
The Canonet 28 has a unique stepless shutter that is electrically controlled. Which, unfortunately, means you need a battery to use it.
I am curious about one thing. If you spin the ring from the red “A” to an aperture setting the shutter locks at 1/30. Try that and see if the shutter will activate without the battery.
