Need a decent Camera, Canon/Nikon/Other?
I need to upgrade to something that is more professional than a point and shoot. My optimal spending would be around or under $500, however I’m willing to take other suggestions. I need something that gives me more control on focus, lighting, and will actually take pictures in low light. Something that can deal with people, people moving (playing music or dancing, for example) and landscapes would be great. I’m in a research field that I will need to take pictures that can possibly be published.
The $500 limit u posted wont give you much room. A DSLR requires usually getting an extra lens or two for certain ranges. the cheapest lenses you can get arent the best quality and go for around $300, up to a high quality Canon L lens for $900++++ each
You COULD try an advanced Point and Shoot cam, and i’d recommend the Canon G10. Its 14.7mp, 5x zoom, shoots in RAW, goes up to ISO1600, and gives you manual controls, shutter speed, aperture etc… i call it an advanced P&S cam.
