average speed cameras on the M25?
I was driving between junction 27 and 28 where they average speed cameras for road works, for about 5 miles. I noticed the cameras and the speed limit was 50mph which I stayed at. But almost every other traffic was overtaking me, Do these cameras work?
they do work but remember they are ‘average speed’ or ‘time over distance’
meaning they just record your number plate and the time you past the first camera than it does the same process when you pass the next camera and so forth and compares the times between each one to work out your average speed, such as a 60mph limit knowing theres 1 minute in every hour meaning it should take you a minute to complete 1 mile for it to be 60 or two minutes to complete each mile would equal your average speed being 30 etc
they do not clock the speed your doing ‘as you pass’ each camera so theres no need to brake sharply as you see them like you would for the ordinary gatsos, truvelos etc
you could pass the first camera, stop for a bit then floor it to the 2nd one and still not be clocked as speeding/over the limit lol
