Are there average speed cameras on the m4 newport?
I know that the m4 motorway (uk) have average speed cameras along the wiltshire area and a couple of fixed ones including ones in the wales section but recently noticed there was a change of a 50mph limit on the m4 newport/cardiff section wondering if that areas covered by average cameras.
Not yet, but there’s a lot of uncertainty about what’s happening.
They’re doing roadworks to extend the life of the road, seeing as the Newport Bypass has been put on hold. Some people reckon the 50mph limit will remain permanent, whilst others say the road will become a controlled motorway – with camera-enforced variable speed limits like on the M25.
It’s also not clear whether average speed cameras will be put up as the roadworks pick up the pace.
As for all these suggestions about taking a break and then doing 80 are great, but it’ll take longer than just driving through at 50. Plus your speed is regulated by that of the car in front, and you’ll have to stop between each set of cameras.
