How do I stabilize when taking a picture by Nikon D40?
I plan to buy Nikon D40 but someone said the camera has no “Macro mode” and no “Stabilization.” If I take a daytime picture, how should I make a picture stabilizing without tripod? As I am a beginner, LCD display in D40 is just for view images ? We have to shoot pictures by viewing in the peep hole ?
What about batter life ? Is image is overexposure?

I agree with Andre.
* Macro requires a separate lens or at least a zoom lens that includes a macro feature.
* If you want image stabilization, get a Nikon lens with VR in the name (Vibration Reduction). Most of the time you don’t really need this.
* The LCD screen doesn’t let you compose pictures. For this, get a dSLR with ‘live view’. The Nikon D90 has this. So do a few new Canon and Sony models. But again, you don’t really need it – the viewfinder works just fine. Besides, whenever you use the LCD screen on a camera to compose the picture, you have a 0.1 second delay. One of the great things about the optical viewfinder on a dSLR like the D40 is that everything is instantaneous.
* Battery life is very good. Ýou can take hundreds of shots on a single charge.
* Overexposure? The D40 works beautifully. You _can_ overexpose a shot if you want to, but the D40 won’t by default.
The D40 is a great camera. Get it with the humble 18-55mm kit lens and start taking pictures!
Vicseo, I’m glad that you enjoy your Panasonic, but that’s not a dSLR camera… it’s a high end point & shoot. It’s also not a “Leica”. Yes, I know all about the Leica / Panasonic sister models, but the only Leica worth owning is a Leica rangefinder. Leica’s reputation is based on their $2000 lenses for the rangefinder model – they don’t stick those on their point & shoot cameras.
