NO MORE USB PORTS WHAT DO I DO?

my pc has 5 or 6 usb ports..now i know there are things out there that plug into 1 usb port that have multiple ports on it. but can they be used to read or transfer information via digital camera or whatever. or just to charge items.

While you can get cards that slot into a spare PCI slot inside your computer, you only really need this if you will be doing multiple things at once over USB e.g. printing and scanning at the same time, copying files between USB hard drives. For most uses e.g. charging phones, copying files off of data sticks, etc. a hub will be more than sufficient. As long as anything that will be used at the same time (like the scanner and printer, or external Hard Drives) get their own sockets then you can put everything else into the hub without worrying about anything slowing down. Also like many other contributors, I would recommend a powered hub, saves hassle in the future.

Oh, and make sure that the hub supports USB 2.0, otherwise things will really slow down.
