Neither is better or best. It is a matter of which you prefer and which will meet your needs. If you have past experience using one or the other or know someone who has you might lean toward that brand. Both are reliable and both have hundreds of thousands of current users each of which will tell you that their particular camera is the best. Who do you believe? You cannot go wrong by choosing Canon or Nikon. Both great products worldwide. And just noticing one of the other responses. Nikon D3 selling for $4999.00. Canon EOS Mk III selling for $7999.00.
