is a sony or casio camera a better buy,?
looking to buy a slim pocket camera, right now its between a casio or sony. i notice a lot of tourist have those two, or maybe a canon but not sure yet. i saw some consumer ratings on bestbuy.com but would like more response than the couple that was there,
Buy a Canon. Or Nikon.. Or Olympus… Or Pentax for a change…
Neither Sony nor Casio are camera companies. They may be well known electronics manufacturers, but they just don’t have the years of camera making experience behind their backs! Remember – high megapixels are nice, but are the least important factor in choosing the camera, large zoom is fine, but for as long as the optics is good. The lens is what focuses the light, and if it does poor job, everything else is a moot. And that’s where camera manufacturers have the edge. Good optics!
Don’t measure yourself up against an average tourist – an average tourist goes to big electronics store and buys whatever the clueless sales person tells them to! Since you are using internet to check on cameras, you can do better than that!

Last but not least – if you MUST choose between the two, I think Sony is a better brand with one big BUT: it uses proprietary memory cards not compatible with anything other than Sony brand devices, while Casios usually use the ever popular SD, which is compatible with many-many other gadgets.
