Why does the government continue to install red-light cameras, if they cause MORE accidents, not prevent them?

you made a good point jon, then you backed out of it. people should not have to slam on their brakes to avoid getting a ticket if they are not sure how long the yellow light is…etc – that will cause more accidents than it prevents. besides, who wants the government to start putting up cameras the way they do in the UK? who the hell wants a surveillance state?
