Question about turning right on red arrow and yield sign?
I am wondering about something. I noticed a traffic light that had a red right arrow on it for the right turn lane. I was confused about that. I didn’t turn on it because there was a camera on it. If there is a right red arrow on the light, does that mean you can’t turn right on it no matter what?
Also, for traffic lights that have a sign on the light that says yield on right turn, that means you have to stop, look for traffic, and then turn right when there isn’t or should you just stop and not make the right turn at all just to be safe?
I live in Florida if that makes any difference.
I think a red arrow means you can’t go or in your case turn right. I’ve seen a left red turn arrow. It was a green turn arrow, it turned yellow, and then red and I was confused about that as normally the yellow arrow disappears at most intersections I see.
I also think the yield on right turn is just the same as a yield sign. You go when there’s no traffic on red and I wouldn’t think you would have to come to a complete stop either, but I would just in case. In general yield means slow down and proceed to go if no traffic is present or stop if necessary. If the right turn lane curves away from the intersection, then the traffic light doesn’t matter, you don’t have to stop if it’s red.
