If a private citizen with a camera switched on & mounted in their vehicle observes another motorist …?
… running a red light, can that person pull into traffic behind the offender and record their plate and report them? If so, how does someone go about doing that?
Does that person pull over, write down all describing factors of the incident, including the driver, then take the tape to police?
Or, depending on the seriousness, does the person follow the offender cautiously while calling 911 and summoning an officer to their location?
I don’t know a single police officer who would bother responding to your complaint no matter issue a citation. Unless that person blew through a SOLID red light, which already had cars coming through it and it caused a grave risk of serious physical injury or death to others in the intersection AND that person was intoxicated, had a dead hooker in his trunk and 3 keys of coke, I can’t imagine a PO who wouldn’t laugh at you and tell you to go back home to yell at kids for walking on your lawn.
Get a life.
