Hidden Security Cameras – Monitoring Without Walls
Hidden security cameras can be embedded in anything, from teddy bears to photographs. They are popular for home surveillance, but hidden security cameras have been used by businesses for surveillance purposes.
Hidden security cameras have become more widely used since miniaturization technology. They have been touted as home security enhancers, particularly with families that have nannies. Business owners often use hidden security systems to monitor employees, while police use hidden security cameras to catch criminals in the act or record an arrest. Private owners use hidden cameras to watch over their belongings, usually at work.
Laws regarding hidden security cameras are unclear as to their abuses, although some civil rights and invasion of privacy lawsuits have been filed regarding the placement of these cameras in locations such as tanning salons and changing rooms.
Hidden security cameras can be wireless. While this may provide more secrecy, wireless cameras may not be suitable for long-term monitoring due to their dependence on batteries. A nine-volt battery is capable of powering most hidden security cameras for at least eight hours. Some hidden security cameras also take advantage of motion detection technology, which activates the camera when it detects activity.
Placement of hidden security cameras is important. Lighting is important, as is selecting the proper lens, preferably a wide-angle lens.
