(EXPERTS ONLY)-Would you recommend this phone to me?

I was researching on the LG Renoir, recently. It turns out, I love it..the features are all that I want. I am a total fan for its 8 megapixel camera..HD video record..Divx/Xvid movie play…multimedia dolby sound system. I also love using Touch-Screen Phones, but I do not know how sensitive the LG Renoir’s Touch-Screen is. However, I do not care, I am fine with just pushing on it’s screen with my fingers. I also greatly adore having 3” inch screen size mobile phones…Im totally a media freak for phones. Wifi is supported which I also need for free video calling through skype/yahoo/msn. This phone has it all for me..but I want to know if you guys think if it is the right and justified phone for me.

The LG KC910, otherwise known as the “Renoir”. Just some notes on my end; i’m not gonna tackle every spec this phone has.

First: Camera, you mentioned that you like the 8 Megapixel camera. To start off, the phone has a Schneider-Kreuznach optics (kinda like a ‘rival company’ of the widely known Carl Zeiss optics most SE and Nokia phones have) and Xenon Flash. There’s no downside to it though, just basic, next generation camera phone stuff. What you might like is the Auto/Manual flash function it has, which can be great for focusing on a subject and blurring up a background. Though the lens and flash might sound good, the quality of the picture still remains unmatched against typical point-and-shoot cameras. In other words, the camera phone still shoots pictures with a quality of a PHONE and not a camera. The resolution (or image size) might be as high as 3264×2448 pixels per still shot, but that doesn’t mean it looks crystal clear when you view it at 100%. It just looks good when you look at it at zoomed-out.

Conclusion: Though the 8MP sounds good, the camera phone’s image quality still remains to be the typical quality most high-end cellphones produce (such as the Nokia N86 8MP or the Nokia N95′s 5 Megapixel Camera). But with the Xenon Flash, you’d have a better shot at the dark with this phone than phones without Xenon Flash.

Next, Video. The KC910 can capture up to VGA (that’s 640×480 pixels) with 30 frames per second and NOT an HD resolution of either 1920×1080 (1080i/p) or 1280×720 (720i/p). The video capability of this phone is typical and in lieu with today’s modern lineup of phones, so nothing good or bad here, just normal. However, when you take videos with low resolution (320×240 QVGA resolution), then the frames per second goes to 120. Which is definitely smooth- no EXTRA SMOOTH video recording.

Conclusion: Video Capture’s typical, not HD.

Touchscreen. KC910′s got a resistive touchscreen. There are 2 types of touchscreen, as you might know: capacitive (as used by iPod Touch and iPhones) and resistive (as used by typical cellphones). Capacitive is best used with fingers while resistive is best used with a stylus. You can use it with your fingers, but it has to be a fine press. Meaning, you need to create a small pressure area in the touchscreen screen; like a point since resistive touchscreens are less sensitive or senses less pressure.

Conclusion: This phone is not meant to be used like there’s a virtual keypad in the screen that you can press on. But you can still do that, though styluses are recommended. Nothing wrong here.

WiFi: WiFi is supported (B and G routers) but using it for video calling/conferencing through Skype, Y!M or Windows Live Messenger might be a problem. The phone doesn’t have VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) technology. Though, I’m pretty sure you cannot use your phone’s microphone to transmit data over the web, you should ask others about if you can transmit your voice over the web. But, you can use the phone’s WiFi capability for Instant Messaging, social networking, etc. Your web browser is also pretty good and supports HTML Browsing.

Conclusion: WiFi is enabled but don’t think that your phone can actually view full websites without running out of RAM. The phone’s fit for instant messaging, social networking, YouTube video streaming, etc. but not designed for browsing the web (and I mean WEB not WAP or “Mobile Websites).

Other Info: Phone’s not a PDA/Smartphone, so you’re limited to the application and games it has, lest you can download some J2ME JAVA apps for your phone. Phone looks nice, but it only has the fashion, not the next-gen function. Image Stabilization, Geo-Tagging, Face-Detection are the great features the phone has. Accelerometer so you can auto-rotate your phone when viewing pictures is also handy. Oh, the document viewer (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe PDF) is also useful, but not very handy since it is very VERY limited.

Final Conclusion: I’d get this phone if I want a phone to call, text, take pictures, listen to music, record videos. I’d get another phone if I want next-gen stuff that can help me with my work, my shopping, my personal and social life.
