How can I record video directly from a digital camera to my computer’s hard drive?
I have a Canon Powershot S5 IS and would like to be able to shoot video on location without having to change memory cards every half hour. Is there a program that I can use to do this? I know there is a program that comes with the camera that will allow you to take pictures, but it doesn’t allow video. I am connecting via USB.

You need a camcorder or a webcam. What you want to do can not be done with a still digital camera!!
