Best web cam & software to use?

I’m new to the IM & webcam technology. My childrens father is moving out of state and wants to setup a webcam so that he will be able to see them since he will be quite far away and not able to get back but once or twice a year. We are looking at Creative’s webcam live ultra but not knowing anything about them want to make sure that is a good one.

Also what type of software is needed in order to be able to use it so that they can talk to or IM him while they see him on the computer?

Dell sells the camera along with software but is that all that is needed? Sorry if these questions sound dumb but I really don’t know anything about webcams & how they work.

No question is dumb, but it seems that some people are too high and mighty to answer such a question. Everything you need should be in the software bundle you receive with it. If there is something you need, are missing, or if you just want to check for software updates, then Creative has a very good support section on their website. The link is below. By the way…great webcam for the money. If you are on broadband, and i think DSL as well, you can use the Super Webcam option in Yahoo! Messenger. It gives you better resolution and higher refresh rate(lay terms = it looks and works better and faster). Go for it. Hope this helped
